2010 Balboa Estate Cabernet Sauvignon ($34)
This gorgeous cabernet from a select block of the Eidolon Vineyard in the Walla Walla Valley shows magenta and ruby color in the glass, flowing with a lifted nose of violet, star anise and soft red raspberry… On the palate, more blackberry and current tones come forward with cedar, black ¬†olive and a perfect accent of clove, baking spice and vanilla. The Eidolon site’s signature white stone minerality carries the long finish. Beautiful power and focus without being heavy or oak dominated…A stunner! Try it with something tasty off the grill, like Prime Rib or a slow cooked Leg of Lamb!

2010 Balboa Estate Syrah ($34)
This Syrah from the B5 block of the Eidolon Vineyard is my favorite version of the varietal from any producer I’ve tasted thus far from the 2010 vintage! A vibrant red and purple color in the glass leans into beautiful bold aromatic notes of bright red plum, red cherry, savory herb, white pepper and red flowers on the nose. The palate is bursting with raspberry, plum and currant flavors, with tones of light applewood smoke, clove and white pepper carrying the long finish. Simply put, this wine ROCKS! Have it by itself or with some Carnitas from your nearest taco truck or spicy Asian fare!
