2013 Balboa “Mith” Roussanne, Walla Walla Valley, Summit View Vineyard ($30)
This white shows a brilliant gold color and an attractive nose of Bosc pear, white peach, citrus and Crenshaw melon, with scents of honeysuckle, white lilac, and wafts of white incense. On the palate, the white fruit compote flavors are fresh and vivacious, imbued with notes of grape skin, peach pit, melon rind and stony minerals. The liveliness continues on the back with sensations of poire William liqueur, grapefruit peel and a touch of crème fraiche on the lingering, crisp finely fruit extract finish. As such, it gets a plus. 18.5+/20 points

2013 Balboa Chardonnay, Columbia Valley ($30)
Brilliant greenish tinted gold colored, it gives off enticing aromas of granny apple, bosc pear, peach and citrus, with scents of apple and pear blossoms, acacia flowers (a Burgundian trait) and white incense. The flavors integrate the silky crispness of Conner-Lee, the Missoula floods minerality of French Creek and the creamy texture of Bacchus. The back picks up notes of peach stone, light vanilla oak and leesy grape skin. All this adds up to more than the sum of its parts. 19/20 points.
